New Guideline Supports Dust Exposure Monitoring in Construction Projects

eGate Smart Building Innovation has published the guideline Dust Measurement in Construction Projects (12/2025), providing a practical framework for monitoring and documenting respirable dust exposure on construction sites in alignment with commonly applied occupational safety practices in the EU and the United States, including principles reflected in OSHA guidance and ICRA-based dust risk management in sensitive environments.

The guideline focuses on construction activities that generate fine particulate matter, including dust containing silica, where effective control and documentation of exposure are critical. Continuous, real-time dust measurement supports early identification of elevated exposure levels, enables timely corrective actions, and provides verifiable documentation of dust control measures.

The document defines practical requirements for planning, implementing, and reporting dust measurements throughout the project lifecycle. It is particularly applicable to renovation and construction projects carried out in or near occupied spaces, such as healthcare facilities, schools, and other controlled environments, where dust containment and air quality management are essential.
